The Acting President Uganda Muslim Lawyers Association, Isaac Kafeero, says in a statement that they are surprised that the sanctity of the rule of law being eroded by the organs of the state-mandated under the law to enforce and uphold the same.
Alfred Okwonga, the Gulu City Mayor says the land which is estimated at half an acre is located within the town center and that it initially belonged to Gulu District Local Government but was recently passed over to Gulu City Council.
"No matter how strong the evidence against them may be, no fair trial can be achieved and any subsequent trial would be a waste of time and an abuse of Court process…At the end of the day, it is the Courts to enforce the provisions of the Constitution otherwise there would be no reason for having those provisions in the first place,” the judges held.
