The Court has heard that Aziz and others still at large during the months of September and October 2024 within the areas of Kampala in Kampala district with intent to defraud, obtained USD650.000 (about 2.3 billion shillings) from Osman Hassan by falsely pretending that they were selling to him gold whereas not.
The case was scheduled for hearing on Tuesday before Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi. However, in his absence, Grade One Magistrate Jalia Basajjabalaba presided over the session and adjourned the matter to December 9, 2024, citing the Chief Magistrate’s indisposition.
In his bail application, Mwizerwa claimed that he was arrested on September 30, 2024, at Kajjansi Police Station and detained for seven days before being transferred to Nateete Police Station for an additional four days. He was subsequently charged with aggravated defilement on October 11, 2024, and remanded to Kigo Prison.
Godfrey Kimbugwe, the Chiefdom Deputy Prime Minister, had filed the complaint with the Human Rights Commission, alleging that the Kamuswaga was tortured by Presidential Guard Brigade (PGB) escorts attached to former Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi.
