Ten of the reported 15 cases are Ugandan truck drivers who entered the country through the Elegu point of entry, while five other cases were from the community.
According to reports from DRC, 41 cases of COVID-19 have been detected while five people have died in Ndolo prison in Kinshasa, where 124 Ugandans including Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)’s Sam Mugumya are being held.
According to the health ministry, the removal of the cases was a directive from President Yoweri Museveni. The WHO country representative says Uganda's move is okay as long as neighbouring countries are informed so that the discarded numbers can be added onto their country of origin
The 10 include nine truck drivers and one contact of a confirmed truck driver. This brings the number of confirmed cases for truck drivers to 145. The new cases were part of 1,497 samples that were tested on Wednesday.
