Edward Kabuye, the Principal Administrator Masaka Regional Referral Hospital told URN on Monday morning that the only incinerator in the hospital broke down two years ago, which has forced them to resort to burning the medical waste that he says is costly.
At Kisege Nursery and Primary School in Karugutu Sub County, they have classes up to P.5, but from the nursery section up to P.2, pupils study from a structure that is unroofed, lacks windows and doors and pupils sit on stones due to lack of desks.
The municipal secretary for health and education Flavia Musubika says that the distance covered by students is discouraging a number of them from studies. She notes that walking does not only impact on students’ lives physically but also psychologically.
Dr Pope Paul Okwera was interdicted following numerous allegations raised against him by the Health Unit Management Committee headed by Ventorine Okello. They allege that Dr Okwera’s inaccessibility discouraged patients from accessing the health facility.
