William Komakech, Kitgum District Resident District Commissioner told members of the district task force committee at a meeting on Thursday that students who returned home are now a high risk to the parents and community.
The major entry points to Kayunga district include River Ssezibwa bridge connecting people from Mukono and Kangulumira town council which borders Njeru in Buikwe district. It can also be accessed by water through districts of Kamuli, Apac, Luwero and Nakasongola.
Martin Okwera, the Community Project Management Committee chairperson says a recent assessment found only 85 members of the group have since the inception of the project last year been active.
Dr Edward Muwanga, the Kyotera District Health Officer, says that they are eagerly waiting for the supplies given the increasing number of COVID cases. As of Monday, the district had 388 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
