Education Sector Budget Cuts Irk MPs 4 1

According to the Education Sector Policy Statement for the coming financial year 2018/2019, the budget is proposed to slightly increase from the current 2.5 trillion to 2.6 trillion Shillings. Despite the slight increase in the total budget, different budget line items within the sector are affected by budget cuts totalling to 7.8 billion Shillings.

Three justices led by former deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma ruled that Peter Mugema alias Panadol is the rightfully elected MP for Iganga Municipality, rescinding the Jinja High Court decision that had nullified his February 2016 election victory. It was a different story for Winnie Komuhangi Matsiko, the Rukungiri Woman MP whose election victory court has nullified. Justices including Deputy Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny- Dolo and Paul Mugamba ruled in favour of Matsikos political rival, FDCs Betty Bamukwasa Muzanira.

Journalists Warned Against Organising Press Conferences for MPs uppa 1

A row has emerged between Parliament and journalists accredited to cover the House over convening press conferences for Members of Parliament. Parliaments Department of Communications and Public Affairs CPA issued a warning today against journalists convening press conferences for Members of Parliament, saying they are overstepping their boundaries.
