Parliament has approved the payment of 947 billion shillings ($252m) for the payment of 82 Ugandan companies that supplied goods and services in South Sudan.
Parliament’s Budget Committee has rejected a government request for additional funding of 103 billion Shillings to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) for the digital stamps project.
Members of Parliament have asked Government to halt payment of Ugandan traders who supplied South Sudan, until when the verification process is complete and all Ugandans included.
On Monday, Cabinet chaired by President Yoweri Museveni at State House, Entebbe approved the creation of nine cities, five of which Arua, Gulu, Jinja, Fort Portal, Mbarara will become operational on July 1, 2020.
The facility, whose construction commenced in July 2016 by Ambitious Construction Company Limited at a price of18.3 billion shillings, now requires a similar amount to procure furniture as well as facilities for staff to manage and run the prison.
