The officers were arrested for allegedly robbing USD 30,000 (approximately UGX 114 million) from Muhammad Olad Abdirahman, a Kenyan businessman last week. It all started when Muhammad and two others sought assistance from a manager at Royal View Hotel Buziga to find the best exchange rate for their USD 30,000.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says they are closely monitoring the situation in Kenya and in case of any spill over they are ready to swing into action immediately
The suspects have been identified as Abdul Mwesigye 25-year-old carpenter from Komamboga in Kawempe Division, Wickliffe Mpumuza 19-year-old car wash attendant of Namuli zone in Bukoto and Hussein Sserubogo alias Abdu, a boda-boda rider from Kisenyi ll zone in Kamwokya.
“We have never heard any action being taken by Uganda Human Rights Commission. Right now we’re in the process of finding any affordable lawyer and human rights defenders who can help us to sue this government.
“Thereafter upon their return to school, they will be counseled by probation officers in charge of the area on appropriate behaviour, and how to refocus their attention on learning," Enanga said.
“They have admitted to conspiring with others to stage robberies of aggravated nature whose proceeds were being used to finance ADF activities, including recruitment of future terrorist fighters, and also to cover welfare costs of families of ADF fighters," Enanga said.”
Preliminary information showed that the assailants intercepted Lukambwe while crossing through the Kanyogoga eucalyptus forest near his home in Misombwa village in Ddundu parish on his way from a drinking joint in Kabembe around 11 pm.
The suspects were arrested following an attack on Enock Turasingura, a pay way machine technician and resident of Salama Road in Makindye Division in Kampala over the weekend.
More than 25 people have so far been injured in three separate attacks in Namungoona, Kyengera, Kawempe, and Nabweru-Nansana areas in the past two weeks by machete-wielding assailants, who rob cash, mobile phones, and other house valuables.
70 suspects were picked in Nsangi-Kyengera, 22 from Nansana Division, 77 from Old Kampala, and 9 from Kasangati Police Station. One of the suspected gang leaders from Kyengera, called Rashid Ssemugabi, a resident of Natete.
Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga has said that using advanced surveillance technologies, the detectives were able to arrest the key suspect identified as Abdurahman Wejule from Lugazi over the weekend.
Preliminary police findings show that while inside the guest house room, the suspects stripped Njuba naked and tied his testicles with ropes. They gagged his mouth with stockings before burning him with melting plastic.

Enanga explains that in the private room, the two assailants ordered the 65-year-old nurse to give them all the money she had before one of them pulled the gun out of the overcoat he was putting on.
Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga has identified the suspects as ASP Francis Olinga the officer in charge of Bulaga Police post and ASP, Henry Niwamanya from Bulenga post. The two are locked up at railway police station.
“Inspector Ogwang in conspiracy with the husband of the woman victim arrested two in a hotel room, and interrogated them on camera, in a manner that was violating privacy," national police spokesperson Enanga said.
A senior police officer at Kabalagala Police station who was part of the investigations told URN that the suspect's used the victim’s number to reach Onzima. "Luckily he had reported a case here. So it made our work easier, we used advanced technology to track them down, the officer said.
Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, says that by Sunday they have netted 38 suspects in addition to another 40 arrested midweek. He says that they have so far screened 60 suspects, who were found with a violent criminal background.
The fraudster targeted police officers attached to the directorate of Police Medical Services claiming that they had been selected for a trip to represent Police in Geneva - Switzerland for a healthcare leadership training course organized by the Swiss police in January 2022.
