At least two patrol vehicles with counter-terrorism, Field force unit officers and military personnel have been deployed at the different police stations to thoroughly check every person and their belongings before they are allowed to access the police station. Foot and motorized patrols are moving in areas around police stations at Jinja road, Kira Road, Jinja Road, Wandegeya Police stations and NaguruPolice headquarterS.
"The bag has been there since 10.00 am. We wondered who could have left an expensive bag of that nature in such a place for that long. At 1:00 pm we alerted the OC our Police post," Kizito noted.
Several government institutions which include Parliament, Uganda Prisons Service Headquarters, Ministry of Lands, Ministry of Education, the Inspectorate of Government, Kampala Capital City Authority-KCCA and the Ministry of Information Communication and Technology and National Guidance were closed.
Two police sources told Uganda Radio Network that nine of the suspects had been brought in the previous night and their details were being entered when the explosion went off.
Parliament Business was suspended following explosions at the IPS building opposite Kampala Capital City Authority-KCCA and the quarter guard at CPS Kampala on Tuesday.
At the spot of the bomb blast, between the IPS building and Queens Chambers, everything remains intact including the wreckage of the five cars that got burnt and motorcycles lying on the ground. The newspaper stands and tree branches have all been preserved.
