Large numbers of faithfuls from all walks of life both within and outside Uganda make their way to Namugongo Shrine to celebrate and commemorate the 45 Catholic and Anglican Uganda Martyrs that were persecuted, butchered, and burnt alive on orders of Kabaka Mwanga between 1885 and 1887.
The Installation of His Grace Lambert Bainomugisha as the second Chancellor of the University of St. Josephs’ Mbarara was conducted by Rt. Rev. Anthony Zziwa, the Chairperson of the Uganda Episcopal Conference in accordance with the regulations of National Council for Higher Education. Beinomugisha replaces the Emeritus Archbishop of Mbarara Archdiocese Most Rev Paul Bakyenga who is also the founder of the University.

The consecration held at St. Pauls Cathedral Ibanda, was presided over by the Archbishop of Uganda His Grace Stanley Ntagali. In his Message, the Archbishop challenged the bishop to unite Christians saying that it the best gift a leader can give to people under his/her stewardship.
