Muhammad Ali Waiswa, the Deputy Mufti, emphasized that martyrdom must be in the way of Allah, with the cause being sacred, and the individual willingly and knowingly sacrificing their life. He added that the bravery and dedication of Muslim martyrs should inspire Muslims to uphold their values and principles even when faced with death.
Speaking to our reporter, Ashraf Zziwa Muvawala, the UMSC spokesperson noted that the assembly started off with a swearing-in ceremony for 13 district khadis who assumed their offices in the recent past. He explained that the assembly later received reports from the national executive committee chairperson, the secretary-general, and later the mufti who gave a status report on the supreme council, its activities, challenges and future plans.
The drama started on Wednesday this week during the existing meeting UMSC executive committee as members tried to ask for accountability on several properties, and funds. According to the UMSC constitution, the secretary-general is the accounting officer and he is in charge of everything and finances that concern Muslim at the institution.
