Assistant Superintendent of Police Moses Oola, the district Police Commander of Kitgum intervened ordering his personnel to forcefully break the padlock and allow the buses proceed. The move did not go down well with members of the Kitgum Taxi Operators and Drivers Association KITODA and officials from the Central Division who attempted to lynch the DPC for siding with the bus owners.
Robert Nsabiyumva, a welder along Chuho road in Kisoro Municipality, says the persistent power outages are crippling his business. According to Nsabiyunva, he is unable to beat deadlines because of the power outages, which affects his earnings.
Jennifer Musisi, the KCCA Executive Director, says rail transport has helped in decongesting the city as over 3000 passengers use it daily. She however, says their plans to expand rail transport to other routes have set back due to funding gaps.
