In a statement, MTN Uganda said “This brings to an end the long-standing negotiations between MTN Uganda, the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) and the government. This license renewal comes almost 2 years later, since MTN Uganda applied for a license renewal following the expiry of their 20 year license in October 2018”.
According to an assessment by URA, an audit of Coca Cola Uganda between January 2014 and December 2017 found that the beverages maker had not paid 58.1 billion Shillings in taxes. But Cola rejected URA’s position and dismissed the assessment which was presented to the company in January 2020.
Many of the youths in these sectors say that their activities were greatly affected by the COVID-19 lockdown, and as a result, they depleted their saving, yet the government has maintained a ban on their operations. They now wish to turn to commercial agriculture for survival.
The key roads under construction include Masindi-Kigumba-Hoima-Kabwoya (135 Km), Kyenjojo-Hoima-Masindi-Kigumba (238 Km) and Hoima-Wanseko (111 Km).
