The Dairy Development Authority (DDA) Executive Director Dr. Mike Kansiime says they learnt that the sector can no longer rely on export market. And consequently, he says government is deliberately working to promote internal market.
Under the PVoC policy, the goods are supposed to be tested for standards like roadworthiness for vehicles, before they are shipped into the country. If the import is registered, the process costs the importers 0.45 per cent of the Free-on-Board value or the value of the goods to be shipped, before adding the freight and insurance costs, while if the import is not registered, it costs 0.5 per cent.
The facelift is expected to be implemented in the 2021/2021 Financial Year, according to Associate Professor David Okello Owiny, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University who is leading the University’s Management team in a field visit to the site.
The package amounting to 5.6 billion Shillings was offered in a presidential pledge last year after complaints by the entertainment sector players over the continued closure when restrictions on other activities were being eased.
