Museveni who inspected the dam on Sunday praised the UPDF Engineering Brigade engineer for their efforts in ensuring that the floating island is cleared.
According to police reports, 13 people died in Kidera Sub County, Buyende district and five people perished in the sub-counties of Balawuli and Namasagali in Kamuli district.
The storm ravaged the villages of Kabugudo, Nabweyo, and Nakabembe in Kidera town council after heavy rains which begun at 8:00 pm on Sunday night until 10:30 pm.

Alex Kayanja, one of the affected workers, says to their surprise the managers expelled some of the workers who led their colleagues to demand for a pay rise. According to Kayanja, they refused to sign the contracts because they were never given chance to read it.
