According to the Ministry, all Registry operations were frozen affecting over 394,000 land transactions. Despite the temporary closure several people are still flocking the offices hoping to get services. The closure threw the real estate industry in Wakiso district into a panic right from day one.
Gabindadde Musoke, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands says the registration that is expected to start in June, 2015 will follow a policy underlining guidelines and requirements for persons dealing in the real estate. According to the Ministry, the real estate industry in Uganda has been growing over the years but with no regulation.
