Mastercard Foundation Country Director in Uganda, Adrian Bukenya, says that currently while the young persons in Uganda, who also account for more than 70 percent of the population, need the support of not only the government, but also the private sector and other corporations to boost their entrepreneurial bid.
Eng Henry Arinaitwe, the Chairperson of ERB, says many have been carrying out the work of professional engineers without being certified to work in Uganda, taking advantage of the absence of the adequate regulation.
He says that it is a global practice that any person intending to operate in another country must undergo local registration processes to ensure standards and quality assurance but also prevent unfair competition.
The Permanent Secretary, Batebe, added that the construction of the networks will bring more disputes, such as breach of contracts, licensing, and environmental concerns, billing, among others. This underscores the need for amicable ways to resolve such conflicts.
Okello Evelyn Linda, Chairperson of the Women's League in Pager Division, shared that each group from a specific cell received UGX 1 million as part of the revolving fund. These funds were distributed across 14 cells in the division.
The UGX 7 billion, four-story office complex was launched in 2018, with an initial expectation of completion within four years, funded by contributions from Christians and well-wishers.
Once completed, the hatchery aims to generate up to 100 million Shillings per quarter and 400 million Shillings annually from fingerling sales alone. This initiative seeks to address challenges such as limited access to quality fingerlings, financial constraints, and inadequate technical knowledge among fish farmers.
Budadiri West MP Nathan Nandala Mafabi stated that Bujagali Energy Limited had unfairly profited from Ugandans through questionable accounting practices. "You cannot remove money from a balance sheet without making adjustments. It is criminal to redeem shares and continue charging Ugandans the same high tariffs," Nandala argued.
