Oulanyah’s body is expected to arrive in Omoro district this afternoon by a chopper that will land at Lalogi primary school after the state funeral at Kololo Ceremonial Ground in Kampala.
Geoffrey Matovu, the Regional Inspectorate Officer in Gulu told URN in an interview that it would a double expenditure if the districts in Acholi Sub–Region use money from the government vote to contribute to the funeral since Oulanyah will be accorded a state funeral.
James Elima, the Director of Gulu Regional Referral Hospital says COVID -19 vaccination uptake in Acholi Sub –Region still remains at only 45 percent despite the test positivity rate which is 7.6 percent, slightly higher than the national average.
Geoffrey Matovu, the IGG Gulu Regional Inspectorate Officer says currently, they have over 300 case files of corruption at the office but only have five investigators attached to the sub-region.
According to statistics obtained from police in Aswa River Region, a total of 366 homicide cases were registered in Acholi Sub –Region in a period of 15 months. Out those cases, 301 were from January to December 2020 while 65 were from January to March this year.
Jonan Kiiza, the Head of Communications at Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited revealed that the government procured 2,000 under the free electricity connection policy and that the meters are undergoing quality test for certification at Uganda National Bureau of Standards and that more meters shall be procured.
A recent murder case was reported to police on Sunday in Agago where an eighteen-year-old girl identified as Collins Acayo, a Senior two student of Adilang Secondary School in Agago, was discovered dead in the bush with a slit throat. Police report indicates that the deceased was allegedly murdered during a revenge attack in an interfamily feud.
These cases within only eight months surpass the cases of domestic violence recorded in the region in 2019 according to the Police Annual Crime Reports of 2019. According to the annual crime report, Acholi Sub –Region recorded 1,131 cases of domestic violence.
