The CAO Anselim Kyaligonza has cancelled the transfer of Dr. Sekanabo and ordered him to return to Karugutu Health Centre IV where he was working as a surgeon without giving any reasons for the decision.
Dr. Fredrick Kahuma, in charge of Karugutu Health Center IV, says the district and the government are aware of the situation at the facility, so he is trying to convince NGO partners to lend a hand and establish building structures to save the situation. The district Chairman William Kasoro says the medics have a tough time convincing patients to share the same ward, yet they can’t turn them away.
The machine in Rwamabale was donated to the farmers by the National Agricultural Advisory Services - Naads in 2016 after the farmers requested the machine saying it will help them minimize the losses resulting from poor milk handling.
Apparently, the affected families live on suspended makeshift structures hanging on top of their former homes. The most affected areas are residents of Kamuga, Katanga and Rwenyana villages.
Kasoro told the prime minister that in 2019 floods submerged Katanga, Rwenyana, Kajweka, Rwangara, Kamuga and Kachwankumu parishes in Kanaara sub-county. They also affected several cells in Kanara town council and Butungama sub-county, which borders the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The deceased was the National Resistance Movement publicity secretary for the party, he had replaced the NRM party chairperson Vincent Mugume,who had been murdered in similar circumstances from his home district in November 2019.
