They say that over 14 percent of the total land mass in the country is held under large scale land acquisition. Large scale is land which is at least 200 hectares. This means that all that land is held by a single person or entity.
Some of the women with physical disabilities note that they are deprived of basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter. They also cited abuse by their spouses who impregnate them and disappear leaving them to languish.
The deceased are Isaac Ogenrwot and Kwigiri, both 12-year old and residents of Abuka village. Ogenrwot reportedly died on the spot after the blast while Kwigiri succumbed to injuries while being rushed to Kitgum General Hospital.
Athoril was first rushed to St Jude clinic in Ndeeba, which referred her to Mulago hospital when her condition deteriorated. The school counsellor, Rosemary Muyingo, says the deceased was only given one stroke of the cane. She says the pupil has been battling heart complications, which were known to her parents and the school.
