The law requires that after the President has assented to the Bill, it should be published in the National Gazette, and within 60 days, the Minister, in consultation with the workers should make a statutory instrument to guide on the appropriate ways the beneficiaries can access their savings.
Malende protested the slow pace in the investigations by the state, arguing that it has unduly subjected the accused persons to prolonged remand sentences.
The investigations follow a postmortem report from Mbale Regional Referral Hospital that indicated that Joseph Okwalinga alias Golola and Michael Ojakol died due injuries inflicted on them. The duo died in two separate incidents on January 1, 2022.
