Dr. Fatuma Ahmed, the Consultant on Gender and Social Protection for the IOM's Better Regional Migration Management Project, says female migrant workers abroad are doubly disadvantaged because they are discriminated as females and as migrants.
“Today about 33,000 Indians in a population of (over) 40 million natives claim to be responsible for 62 percent of the country’s economic output, they are inching close to 75 percent of the colonial period,” he points out pointing to the fact that Uganda’s economy is already back in hands of the Indians as the case was prior to 1972.
The CAO Anselim Kyaligonza has cancelled the transfer of Dr. Sekanabo and ordered him to return to Karugutu Health Centre IV where he was working as a surgeon without giving any reasons for the decision.
