Commenting about this, Aggrey David Kibenge, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development said discussions for introducing the minimum wage are underway in cabinet. Kibenge noted that while there is advocacy for decent work, there is need to first create jobs locally as decent work is premised on four pillars including job creation, workers’ rights, social dialogue and social protection.
