Phiona Nabirye, one of the family members narrated how they had breakfast with the deceased. "She expressed no signs of agony whatsoever, but to our shock, we found her hanging with a bed-sheet tied around her neck," noted Nabirye.
The decision to block the FDC meeting was reached in a meeting between Kalangala Resident District Commissioner, Daniel Kikoola, District Internal Security Officer Kasaana Kaliisa and Police.
The station did not have working space for officers and was operating without police cells. Suspects held by the police were instead detained in a nearby market stall. Female, male and juvenile suspects were all muddled in one stall, prompting an uproar from the suspects, residents, and human rights activists.
