Among those transferred is Fred Waninda, the acting Registrar of the Commercial Court in Charge of Planning, Performance and Development who was recently accused of assaulting a journalist attached to Smart 24 Television.
Laben Mwigo, the Welfare and Rehabilitation Officer at Masaka Central Prison says that the facility, built more than 50 years ago, does not have enough space to create an isolation ward or unit for persons with mental health challenges who find themselves on the wrong side of the law.
On Wednesday last week, Waninda was caught on camera slapping a journalist working with Smart 24 television recording him after appearing before the Commercial Court to respond to against charges of landing grabbing.
