Michael Otim, the Prime Minister of the Acholi Cultural Institution told Uganda Radio Network in an interview Thursday that the meeting was aimed at getting the institution’s perspective on how the community views the reopening of Kony’s case.
The resettled children who have been living on the streets of Kampala were rounded up by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and partners in collaboration with Napak District Local Government and enrolled in schools where they stay throughout, including holidays.
Dorcus Wangari, the LCV Female Councilor for Aduku Town Council, emphasized the need for vigilance among parents. "Although we have been putting pressure on the police to ensure the prosecution of all culprits, parents must be more vigilant and stop entrusting their children with anyone, even close relatives," Wangari said.
During the release of the annual joint review report for 2023/2024 at the National HIV and AIDS Symposium, held at the Office of the Prime Minister on Wednesday, Vincent Bagambe, the Director of Planning and Strategic Information at the UAC, revealed that only 75% of children aged 0-14 years and adolescents have tested and know their HIV status.
Brig. Michael Nyaarwa, Commandant of the Marine Brigade, praised the community's support and highlighted the UPDF’s commitment to being a people-centered force. "The community's willingness to interact with our soldiers freely shows their support. If there were grievances, we would be dealing with numerous complaints, but instead, we see mutual respect," he said.
