Esther Nakawooya, the Democratic Party candidate in the Nakaseke Woman MP race says that due to its proximity to Kampala city, many landgrabbers have run to the area threatening to evict residents from their land. She, however, says that once elected she will challenge any person who evicts a tenant without compensation.
Musisi, who is running on the National Unity Platform-NUP ticket seeks to unseat the incumbent LCV Chairperson Ignatius Koomu Kiwanuka. NRM has dominated the Nakaseke LCV chairperson’s seat since the district was operationalized in 2005.
Geoffrey Ssozi, one of the area residents, says the situation turned chaotic when the protesters started pelting the officers with stones. He says the chaos forced many traders to close their shops as the angry supporters engaged the officers in running battles demanding the unconditional release of Luttamaguzi.
