On Wednesday, police was deployed heavily at Kanyangeya Kyabolokya 1 and 2, and Kyalhumba 1 and 2 polling stations to ensure the elections went on smoothly.
Bagonza of the Forum for Democratic Change FDC party polled 285 votes against his rival independent candidate Fred Isabirye who obtained 19 votes. DPs Isaac Zirimumpeke was third with 13 votes.
As a result, the residents resolved to converge in a bar opposite Hormisdallen School where they agreed on a power sharing deal, which saw Joseph Bahemuka Magimbi Amooti, an independent candidate take the chairpersons seat.

On Wednesday morning, chaos continued in some villages. At wire cell, Soroti Municipality, the voters refused to line up behind their candidates demanding that the election officials first tally the voters register using their national identity cards.
The School Head teacher, Cephas Kamya, said while Hormisdallen School is the designated polling station for the area, they couldnt sacrifice teaching to allow the elections to take place.
The voters have decried the ease with which candidates in some places forged voting slips and ferried voters from neighbouring villages to vote in places away from their residences. They are equally upset that many of them learnt about the village voters register on polling day.
The Assistant Mbale District Returning Officer, Robert Mugabe disclosed this at his offices at the Regional administration block in Mbale town last evening. Mugabe made the announcement after receiving petitions from the affected villages.
