In Kiruhura—the president’s home district—Museveni polled 23,130 more votes than the people who voted for the Woman MP. He scored 75,483, representing 98.76 of votes cast, in the district that had a voter turnout of 93. 91 per cent.
The concern by Civil Society Organizations comes days after President Yoweri Museveni ordered the suspension of DGF, the single biggest donor basket established by Development Partners to provide harmonized, coherent and well-coordinated support to state and non-state entities in the country.
In 48 Sub Counties and Town Councils in the districts Amuru, Nwoya, Omoro and Gulu, NRM took 24 seats while independent candidates scooped 12 seats. The Democratic Party –DP and Forum for Democratic Change –FDC took six positions each in the Sub –Counties and Town Councils across the four districts.
The newly formed party has taken a lion’s share in Sub-county and Town Council elections defeating the incumbents from the National Resistance Movement-NRM. The ruling party won in only one, out of the four Sub Counties and three Town Councils in Kalungu district, after its candidate David Ssegawa defeated Charles Kayima for the Lwebange Sub-county seat.
The Head of Credit and Investment at the Micro Finance Support Center Eboku Ejanu says, they submitted to the Ministry of Trade 3,500 application forms for SACCOs but only 700 have been cleared yet. He says they are yet to get answers from the Ministry why the process has been slow.
According to results released by the Electoral Commission on Thursday afternoon, the NRM won 23 of the seats while the other 21, all went to the FDC. Two others elected chairpersons are independent candidates.
