The communities in the sub-counties of Kalapata, Sidok, and Kakamar lack access to essential services such as health services, education, and roads among others.
Police have identified the deceased as Polycarp Lokeris and Lotyang John Bosco Lokurukan, both residents of Komuria in Kaabong district. Polycarp Lokeris was a graduate of engineering from Kyambogo university having completed his bachelor's course from in 2019.

The Kaabong Woman MP seat fell vacant after Rose Lilly Akello opted for the new Karenga district that became operational on July 1. Three people have so far expressed interest in the seat. They are Christine Tubo Nakwang, Agnes Napiyo and Ahmad Fardoza.

Rose Lilly Akello has bounced back to Parliament as Kaabong Woman MP after beating Christine Tubo Nakwang in the by-election held on Monday. Akello, who is on the ruling NRM party ticket, polled a total of 21,814 votes against Tubos 21,558 votes. Judith Adiaka Nalibe of the opposition FDC party trailed with 593 votes.
They include Tubo Nakwang Christine- who is contesting as an independent candidate, Rose Lilly Akello- a member of the ruling National Resistance Movement- NRM party and Judith Adiaka Nalibe- from the opposition Forum for Democratic Change FDC party.
