Initial reports indicated that unknown thugs disarmed the guard and later held the Depot Manager at gunpoint. Within a few minutes, the two were bundled into a waiting vehicle to an unknown destination. The thugs reportedly robbed 15 million Shillings from the depot.
The District Police Commander Apollo Kyangungu had indicated that police would only give counsel to both the accused and the victim because the case involved juveniles.
Ajaru Chobidongo, a survivor of the attack told Uganda Radio Network that the suspected militiamen dressed in camouflage uniform attacked their boat and held them at gunpoint. They were eventually ordered to surrender their fishing gear.
The families were in February this year evicted from the land measuring about two square miles, covering four villages of Rwensambya, Rwenjubu, Rutukuma and Kisuga.
Uganda Radio Network has established that the treatment plan is threatened by the smuggling of addictive substances into the hospital. A former patient at the facility, who preferred anonymity, told URN in an interview that the market for addictive substances like cigarettes and marijuana is high at the mental facility.
