The two legislators were arrested and detained on charges of murder, attempted murder and aiding and abetting terrorism, stemming from their alleged involvement in the recent killings in the Greater Masaka region which claimed more than 25 lives between July and September this year.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyirehas identified the suspects as Francis Luke and Joshua Bakabuye, both residents of Kawempe. Their arrest came after a woman who was travelling abroad questioned how they were able to give her results without conducting a test.
The two-day heavy downpour that started on Monday evening until Tuesday evening affected villages of Kanooga, Kakihimbara, Kaisobakara, and Kayunga in Matale Sub County, Kiganda in Kyahazihire sub-county, Kiziizi Cell, Buyanja Cell and Karuguuza Cell all in Kibaale town Council.
The priest, Reverend Fr Richard Mugisha was summoned in relation to the death of Ronald Kyeyune, 30, a suspected robber who had allegedly broken into the priests’ house last night. It is alleged that the suspect was apprehended by the village security team after allegedly accessing the priests’ residence through the roof.
