The Kotido District Police Commander, Apollo Kyangungu, says an angry mob descended on Lomongin and stoned him to death with stones and other sharp objects.
The station did not have working space for officers and was operating without police cells. Suspects held by the police were instead detained in a nearby market stall. Female, male and juvenile suspects were all muddled in one stall, prompting an uproar from the suspects, residents, and human rights activists.
