The deceased fishermen have only been identified as AJaruva and Richard both attached to Bugoma landing site in Buhuka parish Kyangwali sub county in Kikuube district. The incident happened on Saturday evening at around 5p.m.
The boat accident occurred in the wee hours of Monday morning at around 2:30 am near Fofo landing site in Tonya Parish Buseruka sub-county Hoima district.
At least 57 people were aboard the boat that capsized near Songa-Lendu landing site in Buliisa district while heading to Panyimur fish market in Pakwach District. Twelve people escaped the accident as they were rescued by fishermen. Police have since attributed the boat accident to dangerous loading.
The boat which had 18 passengers travelling from Ndaiga Landing Site to the Democratic Republic of Congo capsized near Kamina Landing site in Ndaiga Sub County at around 7 a.m. on Monday. Six of the passengers were rescued alive.
Zawadi Rundi, 20, a survivor says that the boat started losing balance immediately after take-off but many of the occupants thought it was a normal occurrence on the lake.
Baker Ogen, the Fofo landing site LC1 Chairperson told Uganda Radio Network that at the time of the boat accident, the players and the Football fans were heading to Runga landing site in Kibiro parish Kigorobya sub county Hoima district for a football match.
