Sabiiti, accompanied by police’s Information Communication Technology –ICT expert, said for a long time police have noticed that the customer care lines of telecom companies end up being received at police counters.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, says a total of 45 people were picked up including MPs Robert Kyagulanyi, Asuman Basalirwa and Latif Ssebagala.
According to Onyango, much as the MPs and two others were released on police bond, 40 other suspects are still in police custody pending their appearance in court.
Police intercepted Kyagulanyi alongside several other legislators at Kasangati on their way for the launch of his presidential consultative meetings for alleged failure to comply with the Public Order Management Act-POMA and some requirements set by the police force.
Prosecution told court that between February 14th 2018 and December 3rd 2019 at New Taxi Park in Kampala District, Lwanga and Nabunya conspired to commit a felony of obtaining money by false pretense contrary to the Penal Code Act.
