Joseph Ssewungu Gonzaga, the Kalungu County West representative said that the decision to pay science teachers in exclusion of arts teachers is discriminatory and contravenes provision of Article 102b of the Constitution.
The labour officers argue that the lack of labour inspectors hinders the enforcement of labour laws. The Employment Act 2006 provides for labour inspectors in the districts. The act also states that the inspectors are responsible for examining workplaces to ensure compliance to health and safety requirements, legal terms and conditions of work and observance of labour laws.
