Masaka municipality officially distributed stalls to vendors in Nyendo market on April 5, upon completion of the modern structure. However, the allocation turned chaotic when dozens of vendors missed out as stalls were allocated to only registered and verified personnel.

Ruth Namujuzi, a food vendor, said in addition to being small, there is no space for cooking in the food section. According to Namujuzi, the market is not friendly to food vendors. The new Nyendo market was built at the tune of Shillings 13 billion.

Jenifer Namatovu, one of the vendors, says the market lacks toilet facilities since the new ones are yet to be connected to water supply.

Official handover of Nyendo Market turned into a platform for political bickering between President Yoweri Museveni and Masaka Municipality Member of Parliament, Mathias Mpuuga.
