Red Pepper Editors Out on Bail raid at red pepper 1 Top story

Three editors and five directors of The Red Pepper have today been released on a non-cash bail of 20 million shillings. This comes almost a month after they were arrested for publishing a story alleging that President Yoweri Museveni was plotting to overthrow his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame.

Continued Detention of Red Pepper Editors Unjustifiable – ACME raid at red pepper 1

The African Centre for Media Excellence ACME has called for the immediate release of The Red Pepper Directors and Editors who continue to be in dentition two weeks after the publication was shutdown. In a Press Statement issued this morning by the ACME Executive Director Dr Peter Mwesige, the organisation condemns what it calls the high-handed manner in which the State has treated the directors and editors of The Red Pepper.

Red Pepper Editors Returned to Luzira raid at red pepper 1 Top story

The five directors and three editors of The Red Pepper have been returned to Luzira until December 19th when Buganda Road Court chief magistrate James Ereemye Mawanda will make a ruling on their bail application. The arrest was triggered by a story published in The Red Pepper issue of November 20 indicating that President Yoweri Museveni was plotting to overthrow his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame.
