The National Environment Management Authority-NEMA Executive Director Dr. Tom Okurut says the laws allow sustainable wetland utilization although the activity should be set at a level that can be maintained for the future.
NEMA Executive Director Dr Tom Okurut says that although the public may have an ignorance-based bias on the utilisation of wetlands to satisfy man’s needs, it doesn’t make the activities illegal as many presume.
The interim report of the Catherine Bamugemereire Commission reportedly recommended that district Land Boards should be disbanded. It also suggested that a Lands Authority is established to take over management of land matters.
