According to Ayena, the camps became soft targets for LRA rebels who were looking for livelihood and weapons. After forcing people from their villages into concentrated camps were the LRA previously derived food and other necessity, the only gateway to such livelihood including food became attacking the military rings around the camps, Ayena said.
Speaking during the meeting, Joseph Luzige, the Mityana District LC V Chairperson, noted with concern the invisible hand of power brokers in the brutal evictions. According to Luzige, the brutal evictions are instigated by people who use their connections to bully people off their land.
Irumba explains that that the Office of the Prime Minister assigned him two police guards last year after unidentified people raided his farm and killed several animals before they drove away with several others.
