Through his lawyer, Evans Ochieng, Awadh objected to the deportation orders, saying he is Ugandan. He argued that he is a biological son to the late Omar Awadh, an Arab of Kenyan origin and Fatuma Said Abdallah, a munyankore by tribe and Ugandan by nationality.
Dr. Benon M. Mutambi, the Internal Affairs Ministry Permanent Secretary, said they had expected over 50 officers to attend the training but majority of them dropped out leaving the 22 officers. She said the minister will redeploy the officers since they have acquired extra skills, which should be utilized.
According to Bala, while appearing before the Internal Affairs and Human Rights Committee in parliament in May this year, Ochola claimed that they had built several police stations in the 2017/2018 financial year including Ngora Central Police Station.
