Several UPDF officers and Police Field Force Unit personnel were seen patrolling all roads leading to court premises. Counter-terrorism police personnel have been deployed at the court entrance and restricted entrance to only those cleared by the Busoga East police commander, Anatoli Katungwensi.
For the past years, the district headquarters had been turned into a market due to the high number of vendors, who camped adjacent to lands and education departments. Some had constructed makeshifts and kiosks yet while others sold their products in the parking yard.
The Town Clerk, Deo Ndimo, said he was aware of the issues of Mpanga market but asked for more time so as to comment. But the Mpanga Market Vendors Chairperson, Stephen Asiimwe, calls for transparency if the market is to move forward.
