According to the Town Clerk, Deo Ndimo, the municipality has only one grader which is in a poor mechanical state and can no longer serve its intended purpose. He says that as a result, a number of roads remain in a poor state and are left with no option other than wait for government intervention.
According to Byagagaire, they followed up the matter and were told that the materials on site had already cost Shillings 40 million, an amount he disputes. Byagagaire says their calculation shows that the material cost not more than Shillings 10 million.
The Town Clerk, Deo Ndimo, said he was aware of the issues of Mpanga market but asked for more time so as to comment. But the Mpanga Market Vendors Chairperson, Stephen Asiimwe, calls for transparency if the market is to move forward.
