Roland Tusiime Kamujanduzi, Byamukamas polling agent, says Kawaida was armed with a machete and stones during the attack and was in the company of two of his supporters only identified as Pajero and Ahmed.
Rosemary Nantale, also a resident of the barracks, says initially when they heard the gunshots they though the barracks was under attack only to find several people dead including a soldier. According to Nantale, Obuas wife had gone out of the barracks by the time the shooting started.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa Regional Police Spokesperson says that the two inmates were injured when they lit fire to burn rubbish at the Kaunda grounds, where they had been deployed leading to an explosion.
The incident took place Wednesday at Marol Market in Bor town at 4;00pm. The policeman who is currently under detention reportedly opened fire killing three Ugandans on the spot and wounding another unidentified Ugandan. A south Sudan national who was nursing injuries also later died.
