The allocation, released as part of the financial year 2018/2019 Quarter three disbursements, follows pressure from public universities staff who had laid down their tools, in protest of the delayed payments. The strike had already started in Kyambogo, Busitema and Makerere University Business School.
Parliaments Public Accounts Committee-PAC on Thursday called for forensic investigations into the erroneous system, saying it is distorting civil servants personal data and causing huge losses to the Government. The distortions were mainly registered in age, year of birth and contractual obligations like tenure of employment and years of employment among others.
Dr. Vicent Oketcho, the Chief of Party of IntraHealth International - Uganda, discloses that in some districts such as Iganga, local leaders went further to use the attendance records to make administrative decisions including payment of salaries based on the number of days worked.
