Initially, the police and Uganda Peoples Defence Forces denied knowledge of his arrest. But a source within the security circles has told URN that Kalule was arrested on fresh information presented to security commanders by the Intelligence wings of Police and the Army last week. The information is reportedly linking him to terrorism activities.
He was arrested on Sunday night from his mothers home in Kawuku on Entebbe road as he awaited hearing of an application contesting his deportation. He is currently being detained at Special Investigations Unit SIU Kireka.
He was speaking to URN on the decision by the Directorate of Public Prosecution-DPP to drop charges against five former suspects of the 2010 Kampala Twin Bombings. They are Dr. Ismael Kalule, the former Imam of Ntinda Mosque, Abubakar Batemyeto, Awadhi Omar Awadhi, Yahaya Mbuthia Suleiman and Muhammad Hamid Suleiman.
