Dr Alfred Kinyera, the Kitgum District Veterinary Officer said that the disease was first reported on January 13th after death of four cattle on separate days.
The soil-borne infection generally occurs during the rainy season and is spread through ingestion of contaminated feed and contamination of wounds. The disease can be detected through, dullness loss of appetite, Rapid pulse and heart rates, breathing difficulties, Lameness in affected leg and prostration which is followed by death within 12-48 hours.
Dr Dennis Rusoke, the district veterinary officer, said on Tuesday that the disease has been reported in Kakanju, Kyamuhunga, Kyeizooba sub counties in Bushenyi municipality.
