Anthony Mwaita Ambrose, the Nakasongola District Returning Officer declared Fred Lubinga the winner of Katuugo LCIII Chairperson by-elections after collecting 898 votes (75 per cent) against his rival Gaster Lule Musisi, the National Resistance Movement candidate who got only 302 votes (24 per cent).
Dr. Tanga Odoi, the NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, says the residual primary elections will cover eight categories including special interest groups (SIG and National Youth Committee representatives and parliamentary candidates.
Voting will be taking place in 109 districts where polls at various levels of leadership were either postponed or cancelled in the recent general election. The will be voting for among others, chairpersons, councilors and women councilors for Sub County, Municipalities and Town Councils.
The constituencies include Bufumbira East County, Busiki County, Dokolo South, Mawogola South, Kitagwenda County and Kibale County. The districts of Kween, Buyende, Yumbe and Kyegegwa are also voting today for women members of parliament.
The Electoral Commission has set two months to conclude residual elections in all parts of the country including Zokorro County in Zombo district.
The residual election process including Parliamentary and local government council are to be held within the months of April and May
