Kirungi was picked from Hoima city on Sunday evening by detectives from the state house anti corruption unit and was whisked to yet an unknown police custody. However, sources say he is being detained at Kireka special investigations department unit-SIU in Kampala.
The money was meant to finance constructions of three community roads including a road stretching from Amolatar town to Amai Hospital about 11km, a road from Odyak Trading Centre to Kitaleba landing site in Muntu Sub County and a road stretching from Amolatar health centre to Abeja Landing site in Arwotcek Sub County.
Kenneth Owani, one of the petitioners says that they resolved to petition the unit after all their attempts to expose corruption activities had failed.
Theophilus Obua, the representative of Abia Sub County in the District Council has petitioned the State House Anti-Corruption Unit demanding for a special investigation into the matter.
One of the staff at the office who preferred anonymity to be able to speak freely about the matter says that the production rates dropped after the operation by the State House Anti-corruption Monitoring Unit. The staff member says that a number of their colleagues were transferred, others willingly quit and the new appointees have also not turned up.
