In her submission to the tribunal on Tuesday at Makerere University Council Room, counsel Kabinga said Professor Mayambala has a conflict of interest in the case.
Nuwagaba had spent 17months out of university service following his dismissal on May 23rd, 2018 by the University Appointments Board for alleged extortion and bribery. However, the university Human Resource Director, Richard Mugisha reinstated Nuwagaba in a September 10th, 2019 letter and deployed him as the Chief Custodian of the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology –CEDAT.
Two senior academic staff, who requested not to be disclosed say they have been waiting for the tribunal’s composition in vain. They say their cases have stalled at the tribunal due to lack of quorum.
They also argue that there are serious anomalies with the “so-called petition” and the Vice Chancellor's intervention.
Professor Nawangwe says the said nominees will not be sworn in as members of the tribunal until the matter arising from a petition he has received against the nomination of two.

According to Justice Ruhinda, universities are losing a lot of money and time through Court processes arising out of failure to respect internal systems by university authorities. He observes that many cases that have caused backlog especially at the industrial court would have been handled at lower level if there was respect for internal institutional mechanisms.
Abooki, through his lawyer Isaac Ssemakadde, of Center for Legal Aid says he is dissatisfied with the Appointments Board’s decision to remain silent on his promotion for nearly two years, despite his application for promotion.
